New Delhi, Feb 9 (PTI) Asking his party workers to start mobilising people at the grassroot level for garnering support for creation of a separate Harit Pradesh, RLD chief Ajit Singh today said youth will have to be made aware about this.

"The Centre relaxed its stand after TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao went on fast over Telangana. This has given hope to our old demand of a separate Harit Pradesh out of western Uttar Pradesh. We all will have to mobilise popular opinion among the people of the region and especially the youth for the issue. The young generation will have to be made aware about this,"Singh said while addressing a meeting of his party workers and farmers here.

He said the Telangana agitation has gone out of the hands of its leaders and now the common man, be it businessmen, students and even government officials are demanding it and fighting for it on the streets of Hyderabad.

"I went to Bundelkhand and Vidarbha recently and saw a consensus building there for smaller states. It is, therefore, time that we should also mobilise public opinion on Harit Pradesh, as people are not happy with Mayawati&aposs rule in UP,"he added.

Singh said apart from price rise and scrapping of the Land Acquisition Bill, he would also pressurise the government on creation of Harit Pradesh in coming days.

"I am in the process of meeting various Opposition parties leaders on these issues and will definitely build a consensus on these,"he said.
