Sedition case: Vaiko appears in court

Chennai, Feb 8 (PTI): MDMK general secretary Vaiko appeared before a sessions court today in connection with a case of sedition filed against him for allegedly speaking in favour of a separate'Eelam'at a public meeting here in October 2008.

The third additional magistrate, Bhooplan, before whom the case came up today, posted it to March 29.

Police had filed a chargesheet against Vaiko under IPC section 124-A (sedition) and section 13(1)(d) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

On January 6, Principal Sessions Judge P Devadass had posted the case before Bhoopalan for hearing today.
