TDP leaders meet Andhra governor over Telangana issue
Hyderabad
Telugu Desam Party leaders hailing from Telangana region met state Governor E S L Narasimhan today and requested that the committee constituted by the Centre should have a specific time frame on the formation of a separate state.
The TDP Telangana leaders, led by party politburo member Nagam Janardhana Reddy, met the Governor a day after their party colleagues from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions met him and contended that there was no need for a committee on Telangana as majority of the people were opposed to the bifurcation of the state.
The Telangana leaders, however, submitted a seven-page memorandum highlighting the decades-old struggle for creation of a separate state.
They also requested the Governor to get the cases booked against students taking part in the Telangana agitation be withdrawn in tune with the announcement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
