New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI)Internet firm ApnaCircle-Viadeo, today said it has acquired Canadian social networking company Unyk.

The financial details were, however, not disclosed.

"This acquisition includes Unyk's membership of 16 million users, which is growing at a rate of 600,000 new members each month,"Yogesh Bansal, Founder and CEO ApnaCircle and Board of Director Viadeo said.

Post acquisition, the total user base of the combined entitity would be over 25 million users, and the company hopes to add one million users every month, he added.

"This acquisition will help us to grow Indian market and provide greater usability and value to our members through Unyk's smart address book and synchronisation technology,"Bansal said.

"Our strategy continues to be to develop networks throughout Europe and emerging countries. With acquisition, I believe we have significantly strengthened our market position and offering, particularly throughout Mexico, Brazil and India, and now have a North American presence, with 4 million members throughout Canada, the US and Mexico,"Dan Serfaty, CEO of Viadeo said.
