Patna, Aug 31 (PTI) Amid no signs of settlement, the indefinite strike by over 800 junior doctors in Bihar demanding introduction of salary system continued to cripple work in Patna Medical College and Hospital and Darbhanga Medical College Hospital for the fifth consecutive day today.

Functioning of emergency and other wards was badly hit because of the stir, official sources said.

Around 60 doctors from outside have been posted to manage emergency and other wards, Patna Medical College and Hospital Superintendent Dr O P Choudhary said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that the state government would not remain silent on the strike.

"The timing of the strike is completely wrong and anti-people. It should have been amicably resolved, instead of resorting to a stir,"Kumar said asking the junior doctors to withdraw the strike.
