Jerusalem, August 12 (PTI) An Israeli soldier from the elite Givati Brigade, who stole a Palestinian's credit card during the offensive in Gaza, has been sentenced to seven and a half months in prison by the military tribunal.

The combat soldier was also accused of withdrawing about USD 410 from different ATMs in Israel using a pin number he found in the Palestinian's home, Israeli daily Ha'aretz reported.

He was arrested about three months ago after he confessed to the crime and also returned the money to the Palestinian through his lawyer with five dollars as interest.

The Israeli Army police's investigative unit had launched a probe into the allegations after receiving the Palestinian's complaint and had initially arrested two soldiers over the matter.
