Jerusalem, Jan 4 (PTI) Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction has accused rival Hamas of using its operatives as "human shields" against Israeli attacks in Gaza.
The charges were made after a Fatah activist, Abdullah Kishta, 27, was killed at Hamas facilities in an Israeli Air Force attack. The Hamas activists had fled the place before the attack but left him there allegedly with his hands and legs tied, the way he was brought to the hospital after being killed, 'Ynetnews' quoted eye witnesses as saying. "This phenomenon is a continuation of the ugly and immoral policies employed by Hamas against Fatah men. Hamas gangs evacuated the Rafah outpost, but left there the Fatah prisoners who were forced to deal with the Israeli Air Force strikes, which resulted in the wounding of 18 of them," Fatah spokesman, Fahmi Zarir, said. "This is terrorism and ugly racism by Hamas, which is emulating the Israeli style of action. Whether it be abductions or the destruction of homes and the use of detainees as human shields, and the humiliation, as is what happens with Fatah men," Zarir said. Kishta, wanted by both Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and Hamas, had fled the Strip after latter's capture of the territory but was caught when he tried to re-enter with some 2000 Palestinian pilgrims returning from Haj. However, Hamas men, who had anticipated infiltration attempts by wanted Fatah men, located Kishta in the crowd and arrested him upon his entry to the Strip. He was arrested along with about seven additional Fatah operatives, who were sent to various Hamas facilities across the Strip.
