Karat, Yechury likely to attend CPI-M state committee meet
Kolkata, CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat and politburo member Sitaram Yechury are likely to attend a two-day state committee meeting of the party, starting here from today, which will review the recent poll debacle of the Left Front.
CPI-M sources here said that both Karat and Yechury are likely to be present at the meeting. After getting reports from the districts, the meeting would have a threadbare discussion on the reasons for the humiliating defeat of the LF at the hands of Trinamool Congress-Congress alliance in the Lok Sabha election.
Apart from analysing the poll debacle, the meeting is likely to deliberate on how the LF government would function in the next two years till 2011 when Assembly poll in the state is scheduled.
After the state committee meeting, a CPI-M politburo meeting would be held in Delhi on June 19 which would be followed by a central committee meeting on June 20 and 21.
Earlier, Forward Bloc, a key LF partner, which had analysed the Left's poor performance in the L S poll in the state, said it was not'totally unexpected'and last year's panchayat election had given indication of the things to come.
