New Delhi, Feb 13 Tamil Nadu, ruled by UPA partner DMK, today got a fair share in the interim railway budget with five new trains set to run in the state apart from clinching various other schemes.
Presenting the budget,
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said action is on for examining feasibility of running bullet trains
Hyderabad-Vijayawada- Chennai and Chennai-Bangalore.
Services of two existing trains were also extended, he said."Out of the 43 new trains announced in the interim budget, five have gone to
Tamil Nadu. The long-pending demand of the people in
Trichy have been fulfilled with the announcement of an express train from the city to Madurai,"

The new trains set to run in
Tamil Nadu are
Bilaspur-Tirunelveli (Weekly),
Sengottai-Erode passenger (daily), Tiruchirapalli-
Madurai Express (daily),
Mumbai-Tirunelveli (bi-weekly) and
Coimbatore-Tuticorin link service (daily), he said.
The minister said work on doubling the railway tracks in various routes in the state have also been expedited.
Asked about the project linking
Chennai Egmore with
Chennai Central, he said:"We have done our work and the state government should give us a No
Objection Certificate (NoC)."
The services of
Ernakulam-Tiruchirapalli train has been extended till
Nagore and
Jodhour-Bangalore to Coimbatore,
Velu said.
