Erode (TN), Dec 24 Encouraged by the high yield, more and more farmers are taking to the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in raising paddy crops in the district.

During an interaction with state Agriculture Commissioner S Kosalaraman, who inspected the paddy fields using the SRI in Nathakadiyur village in Kangeyam bloc on Monday, the farmers expressed their satisifaction over the system, officials said.

Kosalaraman told the farmers that SRI method of planting would give high yeild and thereby good renuneration to the farmers.

The SRI is picking up well for the last two years in the district thanks to the intensive campaign and efforts taken up by the Agriculture Department.

Kosalaraman also reviewed the implementation of the National Agriculture Development Programme.
